Lady Gladiators Rally for Walk-Off Victory Over Centennial

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (Aug. 3, 2026) — The Johns Creek Lady Gladiators showed determination, resilience, and poise under pressure Monday night, rallying for a dramatic 3-2 walk-off victory over the Centennial Knights at Johns Creek High School.

In a game that remained tight from the first pitch to the last, neither team was able to gain much separation. The Knights and Gladiators traded blows throughout the evening, with strong pitching and timely defense keeping the contest deadlocked deep into the game.

After falling behind early, Johns Creek battled back in the sixth inning. With the Gladiators trailing 2-1, Reese Stiltner delivered one of the game's biggest moments, coming through with a clutch hit that drove in the tying run and energized the home crowd.

That set the stage for a memorable seventh inning.

Leading off the bottom of the frame, Zelda Arthur reached base with a single to left field. After moving into scoring position on a passed ball, Arthur represented the winning run. Moments later, Uma Pittman stepped to the plate and delivered when her team needed her most, ripping a single into left-center field that scored Arthur and sealed the Lady Gladiators' walk-off win.

As Arthur crossed home plate, the Johns Creek dugout emptied and the Lady Gladiators rushed to the infield to celebrate the victory.

Pittman starred both at the plate and in the circle. The sophomore hurler tossed a complete game, allowing just six hits and one earned run over seven innings while striking out eight Centennial batters. Her game-winning hit capped an outstanding all-around performance.

Arthur also played a key role in the victory, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate and scoring the decisive run.

Johns Creek head coach James Ernst praised his team's perseverance after the game.

"I'm so proud of the battle the girls showed throughout the evening," Ernst said. "Even though the bats were slow to come around, we hung in there and delivered in the clutch. This team never stopped competing, and that determination made the difference tonight."

The victory gives the Lady Gladiators an exciting start to the season and showcased a team capable of responding when the pressure is at its highest. On a night when every run was hard-earned, Johns Creek found a way to make the final one count.
