Johns Creek opened Region 7-AAAAAA play Friday night against a talented Milton squad, falling 63-0 at home. The Eagles controlled the game from the outset, using a strong defensive performance to keep the Gladiator offense out of rhythm and off the scoreboard throughout the contest. Milton improved to 1-0 in region play, while Johns Creek dropped its region opener.
Despite the difficult outcome, the Gladiators continued to battle defensively against one of the state's premier programs. Michael Hanley led Johns Creek with six tackles, consistently finding his way to the football and providing a steady presence throughout the night. Dayo Nonye John added five tackles and a pass breakup while contributing on both sides of the ball for the Gladiators.
Johns Creek will use the upcoming bye week to regroup and prepare for the second half of the season. The Gladiators return to action on Friday, October 9, when they host Gainesville on Homecoming Night in another important Region 7-AAAAAA matchup.
