Coach of the Month - Katie Scott

Coach of the Month - Katie Scott

Coach of the Month - Katie Scott - Womens Volleyball
Johns Creek is proud to recognize Katie Scott as our October Coach of the Month. In her first season leading the Gladiator volleyball program, Coach Scott has made an immediate and lasting impact through her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her student-athletes.
Taking over an established program comes with challenges, but Coach Scott embraced the opportunity with energy and purpose. From day one, she focused on building meaningful relationships with her players, creating a positive team culture, and establishing a program that athletes, families, and the entire Johns Creek community can be proud of. Her approach has resulted not only in success on the court but also in the development of a supportive environment where student-athletes are encouraged to grow as competitors, students, and young adults.
“Coach Scott has done a wonderful job with our volleyball team this year,” said Principal Chris Shearer. “From the positive, supportive culture to the on-court success, I have enjoyed following the team and cheering them on. And she is aces in the classroom!”
Assistant Coach Erin Malone echoed those sentiments.
“Katie is the best! She is a caring coach that wants not just to build and support a strong program, but she genuinely cares about each player and each family. Katie is more than deserving of this award, and we are so lucky to have her with our volleyball program.”
For Assistant Coach Almira Catic, Coach Scott’s ability to lead through collaboration and compassion stands out the most.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to coach alongside Katie Scott and happy to see her nominated for this honor. Stepping into a new program is never easy, especially when so many responsibilities and challenges come with the role. Katie has approached this transition with a positive attitude, an open mind, and a genuine commitment to doing what is best for the program and its athletes.
“What stands out most about Katie is how much she truly cares, not only about each athlete but also about the coaches she works alongside. She is supportive of other coaches, values their perspectives, and works collaboratively to find the best ways to help our athletes succeed. Even when things are difficult, she remains fair, leads with compassion, and strives to create an environment where athletes feel supported on and off the court.
“She is a great coach, an even better person, and a truly wonderful human being. I have no doubt she will continue to build a volleyball program at Johns Creek that we can be proud of, and I feel lucky to be part of that journey alongside her. Katie is so deserving of this recognition, and I hope she knows how much her dedication, character, and heart mean to this program.”
The positive impact Coach Scott has had on the program has been evident throughout the school community.
“We are so fortunate to have Coach Scott as a new member of our Gladiator family,” said
Assistant Principal Kathy Westbrooks. “From the moment I interviewed her, her energy, passion for students, and enthusiasm stood out, and I knew I had to make sure she came to JCHS. As a former collegiate volleyball player, she has brought that same passion and commitment to our athletes. Most impressive has been the relationships she has built with her team. Time and again, when I asked players how things were going, their response was the same: ‘Coach Scott is awesome. We love her!’ Her positive impact on our students and program has been felt from day one.”
Athletic Director Kirk Call praised Coach Scott’s leadership and vision for the future of the program.
“Coach Scott has been an incredible addition to the Johns Creek athletic family. What has impressed me most is the genuine care she shows for her student-athletes every day. She has created a culture where players feel valued, supported, and challenged to be their best. Her passion for volleyball is evident, but even more impressive is her commitment to building relationships and developing young women of character. The foundation she is establishing will benefit our volleyball program for years to come, and we are excited about the future under her leadership.”
Coach Scott’s influence extends far beyond wins and losses. Through her dedication, enthusiasm, and heart for serving others, she has created a program that reflects the very best of Johns Creek High School. Her leadership has already left a positive mark on the volleyball community, and the future of Gladiator volleyball is bright.
