The Johns Creek Gladiators battled throughout the night but came up short against Centennial, dropping their record to 1-1 on the season.
Offensively, Jake Blackwelder completed 8 of 14 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. His scoring strike connected with Elijah Antoine, who hauled in the Gladiators’ lone receiving touchdown of the evening. Blackwelder also contributed on the ground, rushing 16 times for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Dayo Nanye-John continued to make plays in multiple phases of the offense, carrying the ball 12 times for 40 yards while adding two receptions for 48 yards.
Defensively, the Gladiators were led by Jayden Okooboh, who recorded a sack, a tackle for loss, and three additional tackles. Walker Edmondson and Owen Crawford paced the team with five tackles each as Johns Creek continued to fight until the final whistle.
The Gladiators will look to bounce back next week as they return home for their home opener against Mountain View.
