Female Athlete of the Month - Sydnee Cane - Flag Football, Gymnastics Johns Creek High School is proud to recognize Sydnee Cane as its Female Athlete of the Month for March, honoring a standout junior whose impact is felt across multiple sports, classrooms, and the entire school community. A two-sport athlete in flag football and lacrosse, Cane has continued to raise the bar for excellence. During the flag football season, she played a key role in helping the Gladiators advance to an Elite Eight playoff run, contributing not only with her athletic ability but also with steady leadership and teamwork. As lacrosse season unfolds, Cane has once again proven to be a dominant force. Known for her offensive skill and relentless work ethic, she recently surpassed 200 career points as a junior, an impressive milestone that places her among the program’s elite. She currently leads the team in goals and assists and was voted captain by her teammates, a testament to the respect she has earned bothon and off the field. “Sydnee Cane is a truly deserving Athlete of the Month,” her head lacrosse coach Stephanie Mathewson shared. “She has grown into a steady and genuine leader who always puts her team first. She makes her teammates feel valued and confident and leads with kindness, encouragement, and quiet strength. When she speaks, her teammates listen because they respect her and believe in her.” Her influence extends well beyond athletics. In the classroom, Sydnee is recognized as an exceptional student who leads by example. Santhi Prabahar praised her character and academic excellence, saying, “Sydnee is responsible, hardworking, diligent, and an amazing student in my Calculus class. She is agreat athlete and a team player. Often, she helps other students solve problems and collaborates easily with anyone. I truly enjoy having her in my class.” Joy Smith, her science teacher echoed those sentiments, highlighting her integrity and drive: “Sydnee is absolutely one of the best students and people. Her work ethic is unmatched, as is her intelligence and integrity. I cannot think of a more deserving student for this honor!” Even in moments when she may not seek the spotlight, Sydnee’s presence is undeniable. Steve Sweigart, her flag football coach described her as a leader by example: “Sydnee is a quiet force on and off the field. She is not only a great athlete, but also a great teammate.
