Lady Gladiators Edge Peachtree Ridge 3-2 Behind Pittman's Complete-Game Performance
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — The Johns Creek Lady Gladiators opened their season with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Peachtree Ridge Lions on Aug. 5 at Johns Creek High School, using a combination of strong pitching and timely hitting to secure the win.
Leading the way was junior pitcher Uma Pittman, who turned in a dominant performance in the circle. Pittman went the distance, allowing just two runs on two hits while striking out seven and walking only two batters. Her complete-game effort kept the Lions off balance throughout the contest and helped Johns Creek hold on in a tightly contested matchup.
Pittman also contributed offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace the Lady Gladiators at the plate.
Freshman Kennedy Brewer made an impressive debut for Johns Creek, recording her first hits as a Lady Gladiator. Brewer went 2-for-3 with an RBI, providing a spark in the lineup and helping the Gladiators generate the offense they needed to come away with the victory.
Audrey Lafon added a hit for Johns Creek, while Isla Wells delivered an important RBI by drawing a bases-loaded walk that forced home a run.
The Lady Gladiators capitalized on their scoring opportunities and relied on Pittman's steady presence in the circle to fend off the Lions and claim the 3-2 win.
With the victory, Johns Creek begins the season 2-0 and will look to build on the momentum this weekend when the Lady Gladiators travel to Calhoun for a three-game set.
