Female Athlete of the Month - Uma Pittman - Varsity Softball Johns Creek High School proudly announces Uma Pittman as the Gladiator Female Athlete of the Month for September. The sophomore standout has been a driving force behind one of the most impressive turnarounds in Lady Gladiators softball history, leading the team both on the field and throughout the school community.
As the team's starting pitcher, Pittman has been dominant in the circle, posting an outstanding 15-2 record, a 2.24 ERA, and 89 strikeouts through September. Her ability to perform in high-pressure situations has helped position the Lady Gladiators for a region championship run and transformed the team's fortunes this season.
Pittman's impact extends well beyond pitching. At the plate, she is batting .386 and has delivered multiple game-winning hits, including clutch performances against Peachtree Ridge, Riverwood, and Centennial.
"Uma has been a major reason for our team's success this season," said Head Coach Jim Ernst. "Her competitive drive, work ethic, and ability to perform under pressure have helped put our team in position to capture a region championship. What makes Uma truly special, however, is the positive impact she has on everyone around her. She is an exceptional teammate who is always encouraging others, celebrating their successes, and lifting them up during difficult moments."
Assistant Coach Jeno Marvel believes Pittman's value goes beyond the impressive statistics.
"Statistics tell part of Uma's story, but they don't fully capture what makes her special," Marvel said. "She competes with unmatched intensity, whether she's commanding the game from the circle or delivering at the plate in big moments. More importantly, she brings fearless energy to every practice and game that keeps our team confident, loose, and ready to compete. Simply put, she's a DAWG, and coaching her has been one of the great privileges of my career."
While her athletic accomplishments have earned headlines, Pittman has also distinguished herself in the classroom through her leadership, positivity, and commitment to helping others.
Science teacher Ari Bowles praised the sophomore's influence both in class and on campus.
"Uma Pittman is a high-energy student who brings enthusiasm and positivity to our classroom every day," Bowles said. "She is always willing to contribute to discussions, help her classmates, and keep the environment light, fun, and engaging. It has been impressive to watch her step into a leadership role as a sophomore and help guide her team to one of the best seasons in school history."
Math teacher Molly Myers echoed those sentiments.
"Uma is a wonderful student to have in class," Myers said. "She always has a smile on her face and a good attitude. I can always count on her to help out her peers and participate in discussions."
Literature teacher Tori Riggle highlighted the positive energy Pittman brings to those around her.
"Uma leads by example through her positive attitude, genuine care for peers, and contagious smile," Riggle said. "Her uplifting energy in the classroom encourages those around her to do their best."
Whether she is leading from the pitcher's circle, delivering in clutch moments at the plate, or inspiring classmates through her positivity and work ethic, Pittman exemplifies what it means to be a Gladiator student athlete. Her performance, leadership, and character have made her a cornerstone of the Lady Gladiators' success and a deserving recipient of this month's honor.
Johns Creek High School Athletics proudly congratulates Uma Pittman on being named the September Gladiator Female Athlete of the Month.
