CALHOUN, Ga. — The Johns Creek Lady Gladiators battled until the final out Saturday but were unable to overcome a handful of defensive miscues in a 7-5 loss to the Gilmer Bobcats at the Lady Jackets Tournament in Calhoun.
Johns Creek remained within striking distance throughout the contest and continued to pressure Gilmer offensively, but the Bobcats capitalized on key opportunities to secure the victory.
The Lady Gladiators were paced at the plate by Zelda Arthur, who delivered two extra-base hits to lead the offense. Allie Lafon added two hits, while Uma Pittman, Reese Stiltner, and Addie Grindle each recorded a hit for Johns Creek.
Despite the setback, the Gladiators showed resilience throughout the game and continued to battle against a strong Gilmer team. The offensive production and competitive effort provided several positives as Johns Creek continued tournament play.
The Lady Gladiators will look to bounce back later Saturday when they take on Cartersville at 2 p.m. in their final game of the Lady Jackets Tournament.
