The Johns Creek Lady Gladiators continued their impressive season on Thursday night, traveling to Roswell and defeating the Hornets 15-3 in a game highlighted by a relentless offensive attack. Johns Creek pounded out 17 hits and received contributions from every spot in the lineup as they improved to 17-3 on the season and maintained their hold on first place in the region standings.
Leading the charge was leadoff hitter Addie Grindle, who set the tone from the very first at-bat. Grindle reached base in all four of her plate appearances, going a perfect 4-for-4 while scoring three runs and constantly creating opportunities for the Gladiator offense.
Allie Lafon provided the biggest highlight of the evening when she launched a towering home run to right field, her first homer of the season. Lafon finished the night 3-for-4 at the plate and helped fuel the offensive onslaught.
The middle of the lineup continued to produce as Reese Stiltner collected three hits and drove in two runs. Isla Wells turned in one of her most complete performances of the season, recording three hits and three RBIs while also dazzling defensively at first base with several outstanding plays that helped preserve the Gladiators' lead. Swara Khatri also delivered in the clutch with an RBI single to right field.
Additional offensive contributions came from Uma Pittman, Sydney Laun, and Avery Huffman, who each added hits as Johns Creek's lineup proved difficult to contain from top to bottom.
In the circle, Pittman delivered a strong complete-game performance. She allowed just two earned runs while striking out three and kept the Hornets off balance throughout the contest to earn the victory. Johns Creek will now enjoy a brief break before returning to action on September 28, when they host Collins Hill in a non-region matchup.
