
The Johns Creek Gladiators put together an impressive performance in their final tune-up before the regular season, defeating North Springs behind a dominant rushing attack and opportunistic defense.
The Gladiator offense rushed for 241 yards in the first half, led by a strong effort from Michael Hanley. Running back Dayo Nonye-John found the end zone twice on the ground, while quarterback Jake Blackwelder added two rushing touchdowns of his own to help power the offense.
Defensively, Johns Creek limited North Springs to just 25 passing yards while allowing 143 rushing yards in the first half. The defense also delivered a key momentum-changing play when they tackled a North Springs running back in the end zone for a safety. Defensive end John Michael Sengbusch added to the highlight reel with an interception.
The Gladiators carried a 26-13 lead into halftime. The second half featured a running clock and extensive substitutions, allowing many players the opportunity to gain valuable game experience.
Johns Creek now turns its attention to the regular season opener as the Gladiators travel to Northview on Friday, August 21st.
