The Johns Creek Lady Gladiators delivered a dominant performance on Senior Night, defeating the Gainesville Red Elephants 13-1 on October 6 at Johns Creek High School. The win improved the Lady Gladiators to 20-5 overall and 7-2 in Region play as they continue their push toward a region championship.
Swara Khatri earned the victory in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on four hits. Khatri struck out three batters and kept the Gainesville offense under control throughout the evening.
The Lady Gladiator offense was firing on all cylinders, racking up 13 hits. Multi-hit performances were turned in by Zelda Arthur, Claire Dennis, Uma Pittman, and Addie Grindle. Additional hits came from Reese Stiltner, Audrey Lafon, and Swara Khatri as Johns Creek consistently put pressure on the Red Elephant defense.
The biggest moment of the night came off the bat of Uma Pittman, who launched a towering home run that cleared the fence with plenty of room to spare, energizing the crowd and helping fuel the Gladiators' offensive outburst.
The victory made Senior Night even more special as the program honored its seven graduating seniors and celebrated their contributions to Johns Creek softball.
With the regular season winding down, the Lady Gladiators now turn their attention to a region championship showdown. Johns Creek will host Milton on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. with the region title on the line.
